Luca's Birth Story {Utah Birth Photographer}
This is long overdue, but things have been so busy this season already! This is my nephew, Luca. I finally had a chance to finish his birth photos. Birth photography is my absolute favorite and I don't get to do it very often, so it so special when I do! It is even better when it is my very own nephew. He is almost 2 months old now and it was fun to look at these pictures again and see how he's grown and changed. I think he still looks himself. :) Here's how baby Luca entered this world one early afternoon (G rated version)...

Noah's Birth {Utah Birth Photographer}
This was one of the hardest photo shoots I have ever done, but it was also one of my favorites! I got to witness the birth of my dear friend's precious baby and it was amazing. I absolutely LOVE birth photography despite some of its unique challenges. And let me tell you why...
This little (big) guy came in the wee morning hours so it was completely dark outside. Dim lighting contributed to the calming atmosphere and I didn't want to disrupt such a special process with my flash going off every 2 seconds. So all of these were taken in extremely low light, handheld, with no flash. As the morning progressed, I was afforded a little more natural light. This is probably the most high pressure photo shoot because there is no do-over for a birth shoot. A baby is born only once. He takes his first breath only once. His mother and father hold him for the first time, only once. These tender moments cannot be staged later. They are priceless. I love birth photography for all the very same reasons that make it so challenging. I love witnessing and capturing those priceless moments so they can be cherished forever. You cannot choose the time of day, the setting, or positioning of your subjects. It forces your skill and creativity beyond any level. It forces me to grow as a photographer every time. And the result are these images that are irreplaceable and often breathtaking. I love freezing these moments in time. I particularly love the 3 generation shots below and
Lisa, you did absolutely perfect work :) He is gorgeous and I am so proud of you! You were amazing. I love you and your family! Meet baby Noah for the first time...
